Who is this course for?

This course is for anyone who is looking for work and over the age of 19. You may be new to the job market, returning to the job market or have been looking for work for some time.

Entry Requirements

Entry 2 or above in English and Digital Skills

What You Will Learn

• Key digital skills employers expect job applicants to have. • How to search for jobs and information online. • How to stay safe when applying for jobs online. • How to use AI tools to create a CV template. • Basic Microsoft Word navigation and document management. • How to attach and send documents by email. • How digital processes may differ across computers, tablets and smartphones.

Course Aim

To develop the digital skills and confidence needed to search and apply for jobs online. Learners will explore safe internet use, create a CV template using AI, use Microsoft Word, and send documents electronically to support their job search.

Course Length

The course is 2 hours long but is part of a suite of 5 courses to help in your return to the job market.

What You Will Need to Bring

If possible, bring details of your email account (username and password) so that you can access your emails during the session. Reading glasses and any note-taking materials you normally use may also be helpful. All other equipment will be provided.

How You Will Learn

You will be guided by our Employability team, but lively classroom discussion and activities will make this session of value. You will complete practical activities to support your applications.

How you will be assessed

Assessment will be through observation of practical activities and participation during the session. Learners will demonstrate their ability to search online, safely access websites, create a CV template, and successfully send an email with an attachment. Progress will be reviewed against the course learning outcomes.

Where Next

This course can lead to a more successful applications and interviews. Attendance on the course may lead to other employability courses or courses to develop your skills such as digital, functional English or maths.
